Dialling, answering and having a conversation on phone while driving is dangerous. While dialling or answering the phone the person has to take his eyes off the road. Also, one of the hands remains engaged while using the phone. Hands-free is used by some people to avoid the danger of an accident. But this does not reduce the risk as the person’s attention is in the conversation instead of the road. A study by the University of Utah states that the motorists talking on phone through hands-free are 18% slower in braking and 17% slower in regaining the same speed.
Another option is to park the vehicle on a side and then talk. But (more…)

In a ‘Hurry’, don’t forget the ‘Red’!
All rules and regulations are made for a cause. Traffic rules, moreover, are meant for the safety of the public which nowadays freely violates them. In many Indian cities, like Ahmedabad, people freely skip red lights. Traffic lights are there so that all intersections can run freely, without jams or accidents. Yet most people go around abdicating their responsibility towards these rules. Even when a traffic official is there to regulate, people jump red lights. Most crossroads situated in the core of the city are jammed in rush hours. Some stay jammed throughout the day. (more…)

Feeding OURSELVES!!
As we all know, wastage of food is related to individual mindsets. In our society, there are various people who waste food and those who find reason behind this issue and people from each corner of each city and each age waste food through great quantities every day. But, it looks like the residents of India have their own way of looking at it. Through a survey conducted, it looked like people though it was the age-group from 15-25 which wastes the most; basically, the age of adolescents to bachelors.

As the graph states above, approximately 45% of the people wasting food is the adolescents and bachelors. A lot of times, as bachelors live alone at home, they have food sitting in their fridge until it gets rotten and eventually has to be thrown-a possible reason. Not only this, but there are various excuses people come up with today to waste food. Well, t looks like we have answers for it as well. Through the survey conducted, there were common quotes that people heard every day related on food wastage. (more…)
Significance of my issue
AIDS (acquired immunity deficiency syndrome) is a fatal disease that is spreading throughout the world rapidly. It is a disease that stops the production of WBC (white blood cells) in our body which prevents the body from curing itself from any malfunctioning. This does not have any cure and thus it leads to death. AIDS can spread in four ways, physical relation (intercourse), generation, blood donation and using the same syringes with several patients. Due to these problems, AIDS is spreading from one body to another. (more…)
What if a person is HIV positive?
If a person is HIV positive, then it does not mean that staying with him or she is dangerous and HIV will pass for sure. HIV can only pass through blood contacts like blood transfer etc. staying with them, touching; sharing plates, kissing does not transfer AIDS. As we know and observe in our society that a person suffering from HIV is always pushed out of the group and is ignored everywhere. Where ever he or she goes faces problems like no one talks to him or people prefer to stay away from them because they think that staying with them might get them HIV. Well all this is practically falls because touching or staying with them does not transmit AIDS unless a contact of blood happens. (more…)
What is AIDS?
AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) is a disease that is extremely fatal. It is a contagious disease and it is transferred via blood transfusion and sexual fluids. In AIDS, the virus spreads through the body and starts affecting the WBC (white blood cells) which are responsible to prevent any foreign object to enter the body. The virus stops the production of WBCs and this leads towards inviting more diseases thus, weakening the body’s immune system. (more…)
About us…
As a part of our assessment, we have created a blog through which we will be publicizing the social issues in the video advertisements, which we have previously made. Within this website, you will be able to explore and interact about different social and environmental issues. Each section has different content, which each student has represented in a different approach. The blog section you see here is about helmet safety.
I have chosen helmet safety as my issue because I want to educate people about their safety and the dangers of not wearing a helmet. People in the world know that helmet will keep them safe, however still they will not wear a helmet for whatever reason.
Focusing only on my country, in a year, there are lakhs of accidents occurring in my country. India is a very cultured and religious country, but it is still going through poverty. However, there are many educated people in India, but when it comes to road safety; little is done to improve conditions. India wants to move forward and wants develop. I want to help by raising awareness of road safety with this blog.
Traffic Police Is Watching You!!!
Traffic Enforcement in Ahmedabad – True figures !
The number of vehicles in Ahmadabad have been increasing at a rate of 6% every year. That is a total of 1,20,000 vehicles are added to the vehicle population of the city every year. In comparison, the road length is increasing at a average rate of only 0.7%. This is causing a situation where more and more vehicles are getting packed into nearly the same space, causing increasing traffic congestions. (more…)
How Many Are Too Many???
Traffic law violation is a very broad subject. The traffic police try their best in Ahmedabad, but a lot of the responsibility is also of the people. We too are equally responsible for our safety as well as others. The main priority of the traffic department presently is child safety. Under this section, the violations that are being thoroughly monitored presently are overloaded school auto-rickshaws / vans and under-age driving.
School auto-rickshaws have a tendency to pack in many more kids than the law permits them to. Only 6 kids are allowed per rickshaw by the law. When this limit is crossed, children end up hanging out, from the sides of rickshaws; this is very dangerous for them. Some of them may just fall out and injure themselves very badly. (more…)
Responsibility is Dignity…

Terrorism is an issue too... Ask RTI about the security lapses during 26/11, it is important to now where we made mistakes in order to improve them.

I open the morning’s news paper, and brace myself for the headlines that I know will upset me. A daily dose of a rape case here and a murder there is becoming a habit for us Indians. The crime rates rise with the sun, but refuse to set with it. Just like the warming climate, they soar and threaten to go high, higher than our imagination can reach. A girl gets stabbed 15 times because she protested against an eve-teaser to the police, another 16 year old girl kills family to elope with a ten year older lover. A news reader is found dead in her car, early in the morning for no apparent motive. Each case becomes a level more disgusting, but some don’t even come to sight, ones that are committed by the more “sane” crowd of people, us. (more…)
Understand Why You Need To Wear A Helmet
(watch video inside this article)
Actions speak louder than words. India is a very vast country. The Indian government tries to fulfill all the requirements of Indian citizen. India is developing faster than most countries. Its infrastructure, malls, buses, supplies, roads etc are growing… In a few years, India will have a status that no one would have thought ever. This is the result of teamwork between the government and the people of India.
Somewhere Indians are very independent and they believe in doing things their own way, this applies to traffic rules. It’s very common to see numerous traffic violations on Indian roads. (more…)
