RTI… Here you go…

Here is a list of questions that we could to inquire in RTI. This list will help you to understand the kind of questions you can ask RTI. It is important to note that the RTI does not handle complaints. They will only answer if they have records or filed information upon your request. You can ask why the electricity of an area is not consistent, but you cannot make a statement. Scroll down to view a video that will help you more….Ask these to RTI…

For the Environmentalist:

How many Tigers were poached in the (year)? Was the government able to seize the poachers? How were they penalized? If they are not in custody at present, is the government keeping a check on their actions?

Has the Indian Government signed the Kyoto Protocol? What are the amounts of carbon pollutants in the air of (city)? What is the government doing to reduce the amount?

Where is the government planting trees in (city)? Is there a law that does not allow the cutting down of trees? How is the law being followed up?

For the Socialist:

What were the court proceedings of the murder case (or any other case)? What are the judgments the court has passed? When will the proceedings continue?

What are the criteria on which the government passes an individual to be bellow poverty lines? How does the government keep check if the person continues to be bellow poverty line?

For the Curious:

Why was the Kankaria riverfront made in Gujarat? How did Gujarat fund for making the Kankaria riverfront? How much income does it generate for the state?

In the year of (year) how many students sat for their Board exams of STD 10/12? What were the questions asked in the (subject) for their final exams?

What are the procedures an Indian citizen needs to follow in order to receive a passport? What is the time frame within which the person should receive the passport if the procedure was followed perfectly?

These are just instances that you could use to ask questions. For good reply your questions should be precise, if you can add the date, time, place of the situation you wanted a reply upon, and you will make it easier for the government to answer.

Please note that these questions are just a few examples, you could start of by trying one them to test RTI, but if you know exactly what you want to ask go ahead and do that. Ask for help of people who know how to write a formal letter.  Make sure that whatever you are asking is consistent. Ask a couple of important questions rather than a list of useless ones. Make it easier for the government to provide to with the information. Yes it is their job, but they are human too!

Post your letter only to the office that will know the answer to your query. There is not any one RTI office; all the governmental offices are under the obligations of RTI. Find out the office address and name of the official, and post it to them.

I know it sounds lengthy, but trust me it will be beneficial. When you have a governmental document backing you, nobody can question it, may it me you Ration-wala, the employee at the Passport office, the traffic police, ore the Prime Minister himself. The RTI replies are punctual and mostly informative (for best results, be precise in letters).
